2. Will there be a battle?
That is dependent upon the amount of military participants. There will be military demonstrations at 2:00 p. m. both days. There will be numerous living history scenarios for all military participants.

3. Can my wife and children join me?
All participants must have a 19th Century Civil War appropriate impression. Those with civilian impressions can participate at Perryville in two ways - either in the military camp scenarios or in the reenactor “camp of convenience.” This camp will not be interpreted to the public, but it will allow an area for family camping. This is a period camp and anachronistic items will not be allowed, nor will any modern clothing and there is no “after hours” in this camp. It simply allows for a family to camp in a period correct style.

4. What are the uniform and camping standards?
All reenactor participant information is listed at Commemoration 2014 or you may call the park at 859-332-8631 to request information. Please read this information thoroughly as it will be adhered to during the event.

5. Where can I find all the rules for the event?

6. RV camping / modern tents?
There will be no modern camping or RV camping at Perryville. Please visit Danville Boyle County Tourism at http://www.betterindanville.com/Hotels.aspx or Mercer County/Harrodsburg Tourism http://www.harrodsburgky.com/where_to_stay.htm for a listing of hotels and camping facilities.

Participants will not be allowed to camp out of horse trailers. Camping out of horse trailers is defined as setting up tents, awnings, chairs and barbeque grills.

7. When is check-in open?
Registration will be open at 1:00 on Friday – October 3, 2014. Registration will be at the museum visitor kiosk until 6:00 p.m. on Friday. It will be in the small picnic shelter Friday 6:00 – 11:00 p.m. Saturday it will be at the event information area across from the museum, which will be open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. Sunday registration will be at the event information area from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Camps will be open at 1:00 on Friday after you’ve confirmed your registration for the event. The living history areas are open to the public until Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

8. How will my reenactor registration fee be used?
Every dime of your reenactor registration fee will go directly to the Friends of Perryville Battlefield. That organization is our non-profit group. This is a small group that does not have a permanent staff. They spend every penny on battlefield preservation and interpretation. The money you give them goes directly to the resource – the preservation of the Perryville Battlefield.

9. Waivers, Forms and Registration.
Once you’ve read and agreed to the standards for participation you are invited to register for Perryville 2014. Please print registration form and send it to the above referenced address. For your convenience may also print and pre-sign waiver forms to present at registration. They will be available at registration.

10. Will there be a period civilian camp?
There will not be a camp set aside for a civilian only impression at this year’s event. All those wishing to portray civilians at the event and participate in the living history programs should craft an appropriate impression. Please refer to living history program on our website at www.perryvillebattlefield.org

Civilians who do not wish to participate in the living history programs may camp in the “Reenactor Camp of Convenience.”

11. What are the health requirements for horses?
Currently you must have a negative Coggins Test within 1 year of the event date. Health papers for in-state horses are within 1 year and out-of-state within 30 days of the event.

12. What are the requirements for horses?
Please refer to the rules and standards for horses at Perryville either under the CS or US cavalry sections at www.perryvillebattlefield.org If you are a civilian wishing to bring a horse please contact the park at joan.house@ky.gov

13. Do all military participants have to stay in military camps?
While it would be preferable for all military to camp within the military camps we realize that certain situations may prevent that. We don’t care where you sleep at night as long as you are aware of the military schedule and participate in all required inspections, drills and battle scenarios.

14. Can I walk on to participate?
We will not be able to accommodate walk on registrations. You must pre-register to participate. The ration program requires that we have an accurate count of participants.

Regular reenactor registration is open until September 9, 2014. A will call list will be available until September 29. After that no more participants will be accepted.

15. What is the minimum age for military participation?
To carry a weapon at the Battle of Perryville you must be at least 16 years old. No exceptions!
